Our history
A journey through the milestones that have defined us as a company
- 1952
The first depot
In May, Gonzalo Ardila Díaz signs before the Third Notary of Bucaramanga the deed of Darco Ltda. It all begins with a simple assignment: to collect and sell a batch of machinery and construction materials left in the city by the Ministry of Public Works after the completion of the Ocaña Hospital and the Bucaramanga Modelo Prison. What started as a commission quickly turned into the seed of a building-materials depot. The first warehouse opens on Carrera 14 with Calle 24.
- 1955
Almacén Darco Ardila Díaz & Cía. Ltda.
The company is restructured around one major shift: Gonzalo brings his own capital "emptying every piggy bank and topping it up with a family loan" and commits to dedicating his full time. With that commitment come the first major national distributions: Pintuco (paints), Schlage (locks) and Triplex Codemaco (panels). The store stops being a depot and starts becoming a specialized distributor.
- 1961
Colombia's first anodized aluminum furniture
Together with his partner Wolfgang Walther, Gonzalo travels to Germany to bring home the country's first aluminum anodizing plant. Months later, Colombia has its first anodized aluminum furniture in gold, black and other finishes. Within a short time there are eighteen distributors in Colombia's main cities.
- 1964
Ardila Díaz y Cía.
After the founding partners separate, the store continues as Ardila Díaz y Cía., focusing entirely on construction-materials distribution. New key lines arrive, such as Pavco piping, and the portfolio expands into hardware and finishes. This is the first time the company defines its identity as an independent, specialized distributor.
- 1976
Own headquarters on Carrera 15
The company builds its headquarters on Carrera 15 in Bucaramanga and moves the entire operation there. For the first time, store, offices and warehouse live under one roof.
- 1993
Ardisa S.A.
The family companies transform from Limited to Joint-Stock and adopt the commercial name ARDISA S.A., with the yellow-and-blue triangle logo and the tagline "Materials for construction and remodeling."
- 1997
Superpunto, Calle 61
Ardisa opens Superpunto on Calle 61 in Bucaramanga: an assisted self-service building-materials store, bringing hardware, paints, ceramics and finishes under one roof.
- 1999
La Bodega del Carpintero
Ardisa responds to demand from carpenters and furniture makers with a dedicated format: La Bodega del Carpintero, on Calle 24 in Bucaramanga. It is the start of what, years later, would become Carpincentro.
- 2001
Mobilex
Ardisa launches Mobilex as an industrialized architectural carpentry unit: kitchens, closets, doors and bath furniture designed and produced for project work, with a parametric system that speeds up construction and ensures finish consistency.
- 2003
Operations in Bogotá
Ardisa opens operations in Bogotá with a distribution center that serves central Colombia and acts as the company's distribution platform.
- 2014
First Carpincentro store
Everything learned serving the furniture and wood channel:La Bodega del Carpintero, Superpunto, the hardware and panel distribution lines, comes together under a new brand: Carpincentro. The first dedicated store opens in Bucaramanga.
- 2018
Carpincentro reaches new regions
Carpincentro begins its national expansion with stores in Cartagena, Barranquilla, Duitama and Tunja. The brand starts serving the furniture industry beyond eastern Colombia.
- 2025
Grupo Ardisa
Ardisa S.A. transforms into Grupo Ardisa S.A.S. and launches a new visual identity across the company. Mobilex is rebranded as Ardisa Contract and Ardisa Empresas is created as the umbrella brand for the Constructor, Institutional and Subdistribution channels. Five sibling brands under a common purpose.
A family company that has evolved without losing its essence
The first generation was led by Gonzalo Ardila Díaz, the company's founder. The second generation was led by Gonzalo Eduardo Ardila, an engineer and partner since 1984. The third generation, now at the helm, is led by Juan Camilo Ardila and María Lucía Ardila.
We accompany those who build and transform
For those who build projects and institutions
Contractors, builders, schools, clubs, hotels, universities and companies that need an integrated supplier, with on-time delivery and proven quality. Served by Ardisa Empresas and Ardisa Contract.
For those who make a living from furniture and wood
Carpenters, workshops, makers of office and school furniture. They need to optimize every panel, access quality boards and design trends, and receive on-time deliveries. That's what Carpincentro exists for.
For those who bring their craft to the site
Master builders, drywallers, painters, window installers, architects and civil engineers who need inventory, technical advice, credit and to stay current with new products. The Ardisa team knows them by name.
For those who turn a house into a home
Families remodeling, building their first home, or finishing the small shop they've dreamed of for years. They come in with ideas and leave with something concrete, clear and on a timeline they can trust.
